Two new White Denim releases are now available! Let me briefly tell you about them.

King Blood has been reviewed and interviewed in these pages, and is renowned for creating molten lava out of NWOBHM riffs until the whole thing cakes over and reaches a meditative plane. Very repetitive, grooving layers of guitar, as if Keiji Haino and Dylan Carlson got together to start a Budgie cover band. The two songs on this particular single are direct homages of one of the greatest rock bands to emerge from the ’80s, and I’ll allow you to unravel the mystery. Listen to “Well, Well, Well” here.

Hailing from Helsinki, Finland, Will Over Matter is the project of one Harald Mentor, also known for his work in raging metal outfit Ride For Revenge. It’s Will Over Matter where Mentor truly excels, though, as he takes the listener through long-form, primitive synth explorations and crude electronics. It’s an exhausting listen, as Will Over Matter goes deep into the cosmos, not on some new-age spiritual trip but an expedition to where the universe becomes blank. Imagine the grating electronic tones of William Bennett with Ben Frost’s compositional focus and the lonely anomie of black metal and you’re closer to Will Over Matter than one might think. Listen to “Black Candles and Ritual Metal” here.
