“I will not accept that the work done in recent years is being destroyed by some commissioners who have personal agendas,” said Milas, who hopes that the international student program will continue to grow in the years to come. “The way some commissioners have acted is not an example of proper school management and the more than $11,000 it has cost in this one ethical complaint alone is a serious waste of money in times of budgetary constraints. This has raised funds from our schools to fill that person`s personal agendas. This is not the first student position! Good luck to the new Council, you arrive at an incredible board, with a current graduation rate of 85.2%! Mr. Milas will not run in the next school elections because of personal professional obligations, but he wants the current Board of Commissioners to leave a positive legacy. “I am very proud of what we have accomplished in such a short time with the International Student program and our School Board. The next Council will be able to move this initiative forward. This additional source of income will benefit SWLSB students through technological, complementary and educational services arising from the budgetary priorities set by the Council. “These initiatives are at the heart of the Council`s strategic plan. Despite budget cuts of $5 .8M in recent years, the Council is committed to ensuring that the needs of our students are met and that they have the means to ensure their success,” said Mr. Milas. ROSEM-RE, QC, October 21, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ – Nick Milas, Chair of the Board of Sir Wilfrid Laurier School (SWLSB), is proud to announce that the School Board has succeeded in securing a new professional health centre in Laval for the international student program through various partnerships, such as those with the Lester B. Pearson And Edu-Edge School Board.

The expected revenue from this program is $2,828,000 and the expected earnings for this school year alone are $643,000. At its meeting on 25 June 2014, the Council of Commissioners adopted a resolution for the Director-General to seek partnerships for the development of the International Student Programme. The plans were implemented this summer with trips to India and China. I would like to make sure that the next Council does not address the issues of the previous Council.
